Yesterday I took my iPhone into an Apple Store because I was having problems with the camera. The pictures were all turning out blurry. I used to be able to take better pictures with the phone. They weren’t great pictures, but they weren’t bad either. But lately I could practically not use the camera because the pictures were so bad. So I made an appointment to see an Apple Genius. He looked at the camera, took a couple pictures and then proceeded to pull out a brand new iPhone for me. From his perspective, he doesn’t even know if there’s a problem with my phone. Could it be just that I’m really bad at taking pictures? But he took me at my word that I used to be able to take good pictures and now I can’t. I was once again amazed at the incredibly high level of professionalism and customer service at Apple. Some people won’t buy Apple products because they think them over-priced. It is experiences like this one that make me a loyal Apple customer. I don’t mind paying a bit of a premium because Apple stands by their stuff and they want their customers to be happy.

In Praise of Apple Customer Service
Friday, October 17th, 20082010?
Thursday, October 16th, 2008The October 1st issue of Redmond Developer News has an article entitled, “Are You Ready for Visual Studio 2010?” If Microsoft follows tradition that software will probably be done in 2011 or 2012. And it will be a completely different product from what is currently planned. So I don’t even need to read the article. Next. With titles like that, it makes it easy to see what is going to have no value whatsoever.
Furthermore, the question is silly. Why should anyone be ready for a product that is years away? The better question might be, “WILL you be ready…” or “What do you need to do now to be ready…”. I’ll grant that for some people there might be value in planning that far into the future. But I’m personally done with caring about what Microsoft says they are going to do. I’ll wait until they’ve already done it. It’ll save me a lot of work. And by the way, I’m also done reading articles by people who can’t even put together a coherent, meaningful title. Huumm, maybe I should revise the title of this post.
